The châteaux

Château of Berzé-le-Chatel

With its 13 towers overlooking the Mâconnais Valley, Berzé is a well-preserved 13th century fortress. Reputed to be impregnable under Louis XI, there are some ingenious defensive systems within the three surrounding walls.
Built before the château, a Carolingian chapel is hidden among the terraced gardens that offer an exceptional view of the Val Lamartinien.
