Community of Municipalities of Cluny

The Grosne, a beautiful clear, babbling river, full of fantasy, is the axis of this land of transition we call “Clunisois”, comprising the Communities of Municipalities of Cluny, Matour and Tramayes, and of which the venerable Benedictine town is the capital.

All the valleys are studded with rich pastureland of meadows and forests. The vineyards, witness of the neighbouring Mâconnais area, worm their way into the landscape. This small area, characterised by a generous nature is at the boundary between the influence of the south and the influence of the north. Thus, the Clunisois marks the limit of the roofs with hollow Roman type tiles and roofs with plain tiles.

This exceptional territory offers a number of assets that make it a very active region:

  • a rich heritage: history, sites, religious architecture, traditional habitat, museums, art, gastronomy, cultural traditions…
  • the vitality of crafts: ceramics, cabinet-making, instrument making, scenic arts….
  • A high quality cultural expression: concerts, festivals, art exhibitions
